Band of the Week!! - Single Coil City
Single Coil City
So this week we have Single Coil City!
Up and coming band with a Funk/Hard rock / Blues sound that makes the inside of your head bounce
around with sounds of Awesome!! Progressive and instrumental at some points , you can tell they have spent a ton of time around each other! I Believe they have an amazing sound!
Good ol Greg has played in many bands that I really Like so I am not really Surprised that he is kicking ass in this one too!

Is a Non for profit organisation that puts on benefit shows from anything like helping Japan from the Tsunami (The first time I got to see what are now some of my favorite bands) to Cancer and other ailments to just recently the Floods in Alberta! check out and like their page to find out when they will have another show!
They are always PACKED with lots of local talent and most of it is good ol rock and roll among other awesomeness! Like seriously LOTS of bands play these shows and are hugely supported by the TLB group!

Show Review !! - GLOW
GLOW and Studio 82
I'm not usually one to talk about cover bands :P Ever ! .. But I had a killer time Seeing GLOW on the weekend at Studio 82 .. Also the first time going to that bar! I find that a little weird haha
the drinks were not super expencive like I thought and the music was bang on! I mean everyone was dancing to just about every song! we saw some buddies there and met some new friends jumping around to random music I highly doubt I would have otherwise listened to or gave the light of day! all in all a great night!
We walked out of there at probably 2:30 and had no Idea that so much time had passed! Its a must check out at least once .. you might just like it too!
And for GLOW! they were great! . The timing for the band was dead on and the stage presence and audience interaction was commendable! After walking into the show after being in a bad mood from the night before and kind of grumpy/drunk I was Happy as hell within 45 mins :D

Dear AlTCiTY Readers!
Sorry I believe I have left out a couple of weeks of upcoming shows :(
But I'm back on Track and Being healthy again So I do have the time to get back on here and work
on my Blog again! A bunch of us here at AlTCiTY have been dealing with an array of different things !
All very busy! Jager V is out on an "Adventure" around Canada , I have been Sick and Healing, Dave has been massively busy but will be back soon and the girls have been super busy too ! The summer time right? hahaha .. but really we will be back and all in sometime very soon .. with a schedule of when you will see our posts .. Plus I have had some Applicants to Join us so there will be some Art and Alternative modelling posts coming up soon too .. we are just in development stages right now still but keep by us and tell your friends because when we get going 100% this is going to be a very rad ass site to visit!! It might even go to 18+ soon ;) just a heads up .. I highly doubt we have younger readers but ya never know. So for all you guys and Gals who read this , This is a warning for the AlTCiTY crowd that things are going to start getting rad around here!! haha ..(Stoked!) -BSK

Venue Reveiw - VERN'S !! Of course.
A little Story about VERN'S
Known as by Some of my Friends as "a Dive joint With the best of up and coming music Calgary and Canada has to offer" And I agree!
At the Helm Is Clinton M Pike .. Booking , Sound , Bar Manager etc.
With years of experience in Music, Promotion, Sound and Running a great show!
Clint has placed himself as one of the best known and most respected Venue owners In the City!!
I have been there for a laarge Variety of shows there and Sadly I missed the last one I planned to put on at the place :P But shit happens..
The atmosphere is great and the sound is awesome! it may be a little cramped at some times and may look grubby but It has a great feeling and one of the best venues this city has for local and touring artists!! Also holy shit is it ever easy to get a wicked buzz on with some similar minded people there! :) Almost every band I know has blessed this stage at least once before! If not and you are a band that has not.. click the VERN'S at the top and it will take you to the page that you can msg to see about booking a show!!

"Post Harcore" Band from Calgary with a sound reminiscent of 10 second epic got really fucking mad :P
the double kick and vocals timing are amazing and their songs seem well written for some young dudes!

As heavy and probably better than some of the best heavy screamo / screamcore bands from Calgary !!!
With a refinance like Avenged Sevenfold, and Alexisonfire had a baby with some hardcore heavy hitters and Spouted out a bunch of awesome kids Including "Dead Eyes " , "Americonda" and My fave "Blackout" !!!

Sysko's Band OF The Week!! - The Heart Set
The Heart Set
Started listening to this Band Only Recently but It gets stuck in my head like crazy !!
they have a wicked surf sound but just a little bit harder and a bit cooler .. "I'm not James Bond but I have seen his Movies" is a killer track for great example of how they kick ass! If your looking for a great travel tune check out " sticks and stones" and a great beer in the sun song is "Make Beleive" :D an all around great band I hope can stick around forever and make some more music !!!

Sysko's Band of the Week !!! - MUDD.
My old budds Mudd. have rocked my stage numerous times and have been a
growing force in the music industry since! rocking Primus meets the Red Hot Chili Peppers and has a high energy Singer with a rapping capability and some real Genuine Originality and BTW some siick guitar and drums dont quit! I have been privy to a lot of this and they can seriously melt a stage when they want to ! only a 3 piece band but kills the stage like they just want to get dirty .. a must see !!
